If you believe that all babies deserve the very best nutrition and protection that mother nature can provide and would like to be fully prepared for breastfeeding, then come along to a ABA breastfeeding education class. Although breastfeeding is natural and best for babies and mothers, it doesn't always come easily and is a learned art. Most women given time and support, can and do breastfeed. Our aim is to provide expectant parents with confidence to successfully breastfeed their babies.

Why Breastfeed?

Breastmilk is the perfect and irreplaceable gift a mother can give her baby. It is the best start a baby can have in life. Breastfeeding:

  • Protects your baby from illness and infection
  • Provides the perfect food for your growing baby
  • Aids the development of your baby’s eyesight, speech and intelligence
  • Lowers the risk of cot death
  • Reduces the likelihood of allergy
  • Saves money – there’s no need to buy expensive infant formula and feeding equipment. Breastfed babies are healthier, you’ll save on medical bills
  • Is environmentally friendly – it saves fuel, energy and resources
  • Provides long-term health benefits for both you and your baby
  • Promotes a special loving bond between mother and baby
  • Can be combined with working outside the home

Breastfeeding Education classes are designed for pregnant women and their partners to:

  • Learn the vital skills to care for their baby
  • Make informed decisions about breastfeeding
  • Develop a support  network before the birth
  • Prepare realistically for the changes coming in their  life

Classes are run by ABA counsellors and community educators. Groups are kept small and the class runs for four hours.  We plan to hold the classes four times per year depending on the demand.  Participants need to be ABA subscribers, (if they are not already, they can subscribe when they register for the class).  Classes cost $20 for a Mum and her partner or support person attends free of charge. If you know of someone who could benefit from these classes please invite them to ring Kerry after 7pm on 4054 3692 or email Kerry for more information.
